Dear friends,

The network for political youth organisations in the Euro-Mediterranean “FALAFEL” is looking for partner organisations on the topic of peace and stability in the Euro-Mediterranean area. At the same time, this is a possibility to get to know the network, to join in, develop future projects and strengthen the partnership.

The project will take place in the end of October or beginning of November 2008 in Istanbul, Turkey. Whether we will do it as a youth exchange or as a partnership building project will depend on whether a lot of new organisations, that are not yet members of FALAFEL, will apply to become partner. This, as well as the final date will be communicated well in time and after consultations with all partners.

Partners should read the self-description and aims of FALAFEL before applying. If you share our aims and ideas and consider your organisation to fit into our target group, you are welcome to apply! At our project, we will consider our aims to be the aims of everyone.

Because of the rules of our potential funder (The Youth in Action programme), partners have to fulfil the following conditions:

  • they have to be youth organisations

  • they have to be based in on of these countries: EU member states, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Turkey, Algeria, Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Palestinian Authority, Syria or Tunisia.

  • They will have to send 2 delegates in case we will have a partnership building activity or 4 delegates under 26 years in case we do a youth exchange. These delegates need to stay for the duration of the project. The delegations need to be gender balanced.

  • They have to submit a partnership agreement (see below).

Financial conditions:

Your organisation is not requires to contribute with funds. Accomodation and lodging and all other local costs will be covered by us. However, we will only reimburse 70% of the participant’s travel costs. The other 30% have to be covered by each participant or their organisation or other means that we will not take care for. The travel has to be arranged by each participant her/himself.

Partnership agreement

If you are interested, please download the partnership agreement  HERE and send it via e.mail to ska@fyeg.org by 6th of January 2008 latest. Partnership agreements that arrive later cannot be considered. After e-mailing the agreement, you will also need to send it by post with the original stamp and signature to

Federation of Young European Greens

Rue Wiertz 31

1050 Brussels

BELGIUM

Main agenda points will be:

  • getting to know each other, our organisation and FALAFEL

  • learning about existing conflicts in the Euromediterranean are (dealing with case studies of conventional and “modern” conflicts)

  • learning about methods of conflict resolution

  • learning about institutions that work on conflict resolution

  • exchanging knowledge, ideas, expertise…

  • developing future projects for FALAFEL

We will work with lecturers, in working groups, with role plays, open space etc.

For us, informal learning, intercultural learning and learning from each other will be the foundation for the seminar/exchange.

If you have further questions or problems with downloading the partnership agreement, please feel free to contact me at ska@fyeg.org

Best wishes!
